From Then to Now
LYK NU operated a bit differently back in the 1940’s compared to how it operates now. Originally customers posted clothes to LYK NU, they were then cleaned and sent back.
The name “LYK NU” was very unique also for the time. It is believed to be, by many the first use of modern day “text language” in Ireland at the time. Being on St. Stephens Green brought a lot of unique business with it. During times of big events such as the Dublin horse show in the RDS saw bell boys from the Russell and Hibernian hotels running over with guest’s clothes to be cleaned for the event.

In 1941 LYK NU Cleaners was set up on St. Stephens Green
After St. Stephens Green shopping centre was approved to be constructed LYK NU moved to Camden Street in 1972.
It remained there for 2 years before moving to its current location of Donnybrook, Dublin 4.
We Grew to 3 Shops
In 1999 LYK NU acquired our second store in Booterstown, Dublin 4.
In 2006 Ken opened LYK NU’s 3rd store in the rapidly growing town of Ratoath, County Meath.
In 2016 Lyk Nu celebrated 75 years in business.In this year we continued our development with the installation of state of the art wet cleaning and dry cleaning systems.

The majority of our staff in all our shops have over 10 years’ experience in the business with many having more than 20 years working for LYKNU.
